An initiative from the Housatonic Habitat for Humanity, A Brush with Kindness is a part of a nationwide effort to serve local homeowners who are in need of home repairs and painting services. The program focuses on helping low-income homeowners, elderly homeowners who are aging in place, and social service agencies in the area that are struggling to afford to maintain their residences. By using volunteers and donated materials, A Brush with Kindness is able to provide exterior home repair services, such as landscaping and painting, at a low-cost. Also, as a partner to Habitat for Humanity’s core building program, A Brush with Kindness has not only allowed the organization to increase the number of people that they serve, but also it has allowed more low-income homeowners to continue to live independently and safely in their homes.
A Brush with Kindness was launched back in 2015 and it has helped Housatonic Habitat for Humanity to become more engaged with the community that they served.
