June is Pride 🏳️🌈 Month, a time dedicated to recognizing and supporting LGBTQ voices. In commemoration, we’d like to highlight some important resources for the LGBTQ+ community. SAGE and their National Resource Center on LGBTQ+ Aging offers resources that educate, aid, and ensure the LGBTQ+ community is cared for and heard.
Learn more about the resources they have to offer for LGBTQ+ older adults and caregivers:
Founded in 1978, SAGE is the largest and oldest LGBTQ+ organization dedicated to improving quality of life for the aging gay and transgender community and their allies. They offer supportive services, resources, and fight for equal treatment of LGBTQ+ elders. With a deep history in the civil rights movement, SAGE was fueled by the Stonewall Uprising of 1969, and it is a movement that continues to grow. SAGE focuses on helping elders of the LGBTQ+ community age with dignity and respect.
The National Resource Center on LGBTQ+ Aging is a program of SAGE. It is the first and only technical assistance resource center in the country focused on improving the quality and services provided to the LGBTQ+ aging community, their caregivers, and allies. It offers training, technical assistance and educational resources to older LGBTQ+ adults, healthcare providers, and related organizations.
