Earlier today, the Age Well Community Council of Danbury and the Connecticut State Department of Social Services presented a Summit focusing on the ideas of connection, collaboration, and community. They gathered together residents and leaders from Danbury area businesses, libraries, faith groups, hospitals, nursing homes, assisted living facilities, physician groups, community groups, and senior centers to discuss important issues facing the older population in the Danbury area. They also wanted to connect statewide efforts with local initiatives that provide resources and information to promote healthy aging and to create a path forward for the people in Danbury and Western CT to “age well.”
In addition to guest speakers from the Department of Social Services and the Western CT Health Network, the Summit featured a video that spotlighted the wonderful work being done by local organizations to help the Senior population in Danbury. Paul Trudel is a dedicated volunteer at the Elmwood Hall Danbury Senior Center and he shares his experiences working at the Center as well as discusses the amazing resources available at Elmwood Hall.
