The Age Well Community Council has been a leader in ensuring older adults in Danbury have access to meals during the COVID-19 pandemic. A recent article, “‘If I’m eating, you should be eating’: Danbury group shifts meal delivery to seniors facing food insecurity”, highlighted the Age Well Community Council’s work in delivering groceries and meals to older adults in Danbury through the Emergency Food Program.
Along with the Age Well Community Council, the New American Dream Foundation was also featured as an organization working to ensure each of the senior housing facilities in Danbury have had at least one mass meal distribution during the pandemic.
“With the pandemic, senior citizens face further obstacles getting to the grocery store because public transportation or rides with friends are no longer safe,” said Sherry Ostrout, Director of Government Initiatives with Connecticut Community Care and member of the Age Well Community Council.
We are grateful for all partners and donors who have made the Emergency Food Program possible. Learn more about the Emergency Food Program
