In response to a great need in their community, the Brookfield Senior Center has created two new support groups that will be starting this month. The Caregiver Support Group will meet every 2nd Wednesday of the month at the Center. Catherine Vlasto, LCSW and Hospice Social Work with New Milford VNA & Hospice, will be coordinating the group and offering advice on how to navigate the often challenging task of caring for a loved one. This group will be private and confidential, so that all will feel welcome to join and share their experiences.
Also, the Brookfield Senior Center will be offering a Bereavement Support Group for seniors who have lost a spouse or partner and would like to meet other seniors going through similar issues. This group will meet on every 3rd Wednesday of the month and will also be led by Catherine Vlasto.
Both the Caregiver Support Group and the Bereavement Support Group are opened to members of the Brookfield Senior Center as well as seniors from communities in Western CT. They are being offered as an addition to the Center’s full schedule of wonderful classes, programs, and special events, which include an Alzheimer’s Support Group and a Low Vision Support Group. If you are interested in attending any of the Center’s programming, please contact the Brookfield Senior Center.
