Celebrate Memorial Day on May 27th! Originally known as Decoration Day, Memorial Day became an official federal holiday in 1971 and is observed every year on the last Monday of May. The holiday honors the men and women who died while serving in the U.S. military. Towns and cities across Connecticut will be holding parades and other celebrations in order to commemorate the day.
