A tradition that dates back to 1919, Veterans Day is always celebrated on November 11th. It originally began as Armistice Day, which commemorated the end of World War I and honored all those who lost their lives during the war. However, in 1954, many felt that the celebration of Armistice Day should encompass veterans of all wars and President Eisenhower signed a law that officially changed Armistice Day into Veterans Day. November 11th is now a day our country sets aside to not only honor all veterans, but also to celebrate their patriotism, bravery, and the sacrifices that they made in order to serve our country.
