Get out your calendar and come join us! Our Senior Centers in western Connecticut have planned some wonderful trips and events this summer.
Here are some interesting upcoming trips and very special events for our area seniors. Don’t forget to also check out our Events Calendar, which will keep you posted on all the great events our area Senior Centers have to offer this summer.
Here are just a few highlights of many exciting events this summer:
- Sunday, June 4th – Jazz Cruise in New York Harbor
Come aboard with the Newtown Senior Center on a beautiful vessel and experience the dynamic views and countless sites of New York Harbor. You will even get close and personal with lovely Lady Liberty. During our 2 hour cruise we enjoy a fabulous Sunday Buffet Brunch with Jazz, DJ for dancing. - Thursday, June 15th – Spring Nature Series: Honey Bees
The CT Agricultural Experiment Station will present on the final Spring Nature Series Program at Elmwood Hall – Danbury Senior Center. Mark H. Creighton, Apiary Inspector, will focus on modern beehive structure and describe the communal organization of bees within a hive. The life cycle of worker bees and basic bee genetics will also be covered. - Wednesday, June 21st – Annual Summer Picnic
Join the New Fairfield Senior Center for their annual summer picnic. Each year they get together to celebrate the arrival of summer with the traditional grilled hot dog and hamburger picnic along with other festivities. - Thursday, June 22nd – The New York Botanical Garden with the Dale Chihuly Exhibition
Join the Brookfield Senior Center and enjoy the hand-blown glass sculptures of this world renowned artist. Lunch will be at Mario’s Restaurant on Arthur Avenue followed by time in “Little Italy.” - Tuesday, July 25 – Block Island – Beaches, Bluffs and Bays
Enjoy a day on beautiful Block Island with Woodbury Senior Center. A comfortable tour bus takes you to the Point Judith Ferry, where a local guide will meet us for an insightful, narrated tour of the island. Enjoy the abundant beaches, gently rolling hillsides, sparkling seas and unspoiled vistas that are Block Island. Enjoy a full luncheon at the National Hotel.
