Are you a seasoned corporate professional looking to restart your career? Are you currently retired, but want to get back out in the workforce? Are you searching for a way to give back to your community and help those in need?
If you answered yes to all of the above questions, then you must check out the Encore! Connecticut program. In 2010, the Encore! program was launched by The University of Connecticut’s Department of Public Policy with the goal of strengthening the state’s nonprofit sector as well as reducing unemployment in the professional sector. The Department’s four-month program was designed to help seasoned corporate professionals aged 50+ transition into a career at a nonprofit organization. The first component of Encore! combines students’ prior corporate experience with education on nonprofit development, accounting, governance, and management. The second part of the program is a two-month fellowship at a local nonprofit company which is supposed to give students the opportunity to apply their knowledge and skills to a challenging project.
